A merry Christmas at Community Shop

This festive season Iceland joined together with social supermarket chain, Community Shop, to provide over 600 Christmas lunches to people in some of the UK’s lowest income communities.

Taking place across the week in Community Shop’s four stores in London, South Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire, the initiative gave Community Shop members, who live locally and receive some form of welfare support, the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Christmas meal. Iceland supplied turkeys and all the trimmings from pigs in blankets to cranberry sauce and Christmas puddings.

John Marren, Chairman of Community Shop, said:

“We are thrilled that Iceland has been the sponsor of this year’s Christmas Lunches, which have once again been a huge success. They supported us to provide 600 of our members with a festive dinner, alongside bringing whole communities together.

 “We are hugely grateful for the support and generous donations that Iceland has provided to Community Shop over the years. Without their support events such as these, and our vision of building stronger individuals and more confident communities across the country, would not be possible.

 “I’d like to thank the whole team at Iceland, as well as colleagues across both the Community Shop and Company Shop teams, for making this year’s Christmas Lunches such a success.”
