When their romantic break to Reykjavik was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, a couple from Sevenoaks, Kent, chose the next best thing and celebrated their engagement in Iceland, the supermarket.
Robert Ormsby got down on one knee and popped the question to Patsy Murdoch in the Iceland store in Tonbridge after their travel plans to Iceland (the country) were thwarted. The couple’s story went viral on social media after a photo of them was shared on Iceland’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, bringing some much-needed happy news at this tough time.
Coincidentally, Robert, who now works as a nurse, worked for the supermarket in the 1980’s. He now works in operating theatres. Iceland bosses sent their congratulations and have offered to pay for Robert and Patsy’s honeymoon to Iceland (the country) after they get married.
