Store Manager Jack saves the day for carol service

December 4, 2019

Iceland Store Manager, Jack Donohoe, generously donated 100 mince pies to a local Christmas carol service, using money out of his own pocket, after hearing that they’d been let down by another supermarket. When an upset customer visited the Coventry store, Jack heard how a local church group had arranged a carol service for carers of adults with learning disabilities, but at the last minute, another retailer had sadly retracted their offer to donate mince pies for the event.

“When I spoke to the lady and heard her story, it just pulled at my heart strings. She burst out crying when I said I’d pay for the mince pies. It was a bit of Christmas spirit in me, but it’s also nice to do something good for the community,” said Jack. “I started working for Iceland eight years ago as a Christmas temp and I just got the Iceland bug. The buzz of retail at Christmas, when the customers are flooding in and the shop is really busy – I just love it. There’s a real family feel at Iceland and it’s great how people pull together at Christmas time”.
