The Food Warehouse launches exclusive ‘Magic Bagels’

September 2, 2019

The Food Warehouse is the first retailer in the UK to sell ‘Magic Bagels’, an exclusive product already enjoyed by over 300,000 schoolchildren in breakfast clubs across the country.

It is estimated that at least half a million children in the UK arrive at school too hungry to learn, and Magic Bagels were specifically developed to help combat this. Produced by Bagel Nash, the bagels are low fat, free from artificial additives, Halal approved, suitable for vegetarians and enhanced with Vitamin D.

Magic Bagels were initially only provided in schools as part of the National Schools Breakfast Programme run by charity, Magic Breakfast. However, after proving very popular with teachers, parents and pupils alike, there was a growing demand for the products to be available for families outside of school term time. The bagels will now be available to buy at The Food Warehouse with a pack of four costing just £1, and 5p from every pack sold donated to Magic Breakfast.

The bagels are sold frozen and as a result contain no preservatives, help to minimise food waste and last longer than fresh. They are sliced for convenience and toast from frozen in two minutes, offering eight portions per pack.

Richard Walker, Managing Director of The Food Warehouse, said: “We understand that providing children with the correct nutrients and sustenance every day is essential, and Magic Bagels offer parents this peace of mind. The pack of four represents great value for a high quality product that can really help children to get the most out of their day.

“The success of the bagels in schools has been phenomenal and we were keen to make them more widely available to our customers. The 5p donation from every pack sold will hugely benefit school breakfast clubs up and down the country, helping to deliver much needed food to children at an important time of the day.”

Carmel McConnell, MBE, Founder of Magic Breakfast, said: “We are so grateful and delighted to see these amazing Magic Bagels on sale in Iceland Food Warehouse stores!  It is not only providing the opportunity to raise money for Magic Breakfast, helping us to give free, healthy school breakfasts to children at risk of hunger, but it’s also a brilliant chance to offer everyone a product that is so loved and valued by thousands of children in our 2,000 partner schools. For the Magic Breakfast team it’s a dream come true because we wanted even more families to be able to have this delicious, nutritious product. Now they can! I cannot thank the Iceland and Bagel Nash teams enough”.
