Supporting community action

The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has partnered with national marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) to grow its ‘Plastic-Free Communities’ movement and take the fight against avoidable single-use plastic into new communities across the UK.

The partnership extended campaign efforts across coastal, rural and urban areas by funding a Big Spring Beach Clean: Summit to Sea in April 2019 and 2020, which empowered 100,000 community volunteers to tackle plastic pollution and litter. IFCF are now lead partner of the SAS Million Mile Clean 2021 and 2022. In 2019 we founded the first ever Plastic-Free Community Awards in partnership with SAS, held annually to recognise, reward and celebrate those leading the fight to reduce and eliminate avoidable single-use plastics.
