Comedian Jason Manford joins Iceland Delivery Team

June 16, 2020

Popular comedian Jason Manford joined the Iceland team as a Home Delivery Driver yesterday, delivering shopping to online customers in Greater Manchester. After Mancunian Jason tweeted about being rejected for a job at Tesco, Iceland stepped in and gave Jason the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a keyworker during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Equipped with an Iceland uniform and PPE, Jason also delivered a donation of much-needed groceries to local charity, The Bread and Butter Thing, who have been providing families with essential food supplies during lockdown.

Jason said: “I’ve been desperate to do my bit for those that need it most in my community whilst we’ve been in lockdown, and I know from my time on stage that ‘it’s all in the delivery’.

“Today’s work with Iceland is the perfect opportunity to get out there, deliver to some of Iceland’s customers and support some fantastic charities in the region.”

In exchange for his valued contribution, Iceland made a donation to Jason’s charity of choice, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust. Based in Cheshire, the charity provides holidays and days out for terminally ill, disabled or disadvantaged children from across the North West of England.

Richard Walker, Managing Director at Iceland, said: “Everyone at Iceland is extremely grateful for Jason’s contribution today and he has certainly helped to lift spirits with our customers and heroic colleagues.

Our stores are deeply rooted within their local communities, so it’s a real privilege for us to be in a position where we can work with great people like Jason and donate to some worthy causes at the same time.”
